Dr. Shalini Thasma is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) graduate of New York University College of Dentistry — one of the most respected dental programs in the United States.
Trained at NYU. Practicing in Frisco since 2010.
Before coming to the US, she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from VMS Dental College in Salem, India, and practiced as an Associate Dentist in a multi-speciality dental office for two years, gaining broad clinical experience across general and specialist dental care.
Dr. Thasma founded Coit Dental in 2010 with a simple belief: patients deserve conservative, preventive-first care from a dentist who takes the time to truly listen. After years working in group practices across New Jersey and Texas, she built her own practice around the values that corporate dental groups often leave little room for — individualised treatment plans, unhurried appointments, and a long-term relationship with every patient she sees.
In 2020, Coit Dental relocated to its current home at 4617 Coit Rd, STE #110, Frisco, TX 75035, where Dr. Thasma continues to serve families across Frisco, Little Elm, and the surrounding communities. She is licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners and is committed to lifelong learning through continuing dental education.
Dr. Thasma’s dual training — in both the Indian and American dental education systems — gives her a uniquely broad clinical perspective and makes her especially well-equipped to treat patients from diverse backgrounds and with varying dental histories.
At Coit Dental, Dr. Thasma provides a full range of general, cosmetic, and restorative dental services for patients of all ages — from young children to seniors. You will find links to each treatment page below.
Coit Dental accepts Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, United HealthCare, and other major PPO insurance plans. Contact us to verify your coverage.
Dr. Thasma’s approach to dentistry is rooted in prevention and conservation — her goal is always to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible and to help you avoid more complex treatment down the line. She believes that patient education is as important as clinical skill: when patients understand what is happening in their mouths and why, they make better decisions for their long-term oral health. That is why we share short patient education videos on common treatments.
Outside the practice, Dr. Thasma is a committed member of the Frisco community. She volunteers at local schools and has participated in free community health fairs — bringing dental education and screenings to families who may not otherwise have easy access to dental care.
Dr. Thasma is married and has three children. Her interests include cooking for her family, listening to music, and spending time with her kids.
Dr. Thasma is proud to serve the diverse Frisco community, including many patients from South Asian, Indian, and international backgrounds who value a culturally familiar and comfortable dental experience. Coit Dental welcomes patients of all backgrounds and nationalities — new patients are always welcome. Want to see where you will be treated? Take our office tour.
