Braces For Teeth

Anyone who wishes to have perfect white smile through the use of cosmetic braces should be prepared to spend $3,000 to $7,000. The cost varies depending on the following factors: location, duration of the treatment, type of treatment, orthodontist, dental insurance and degree of restorative work.

The ideal age for orthodontic treatment of this type is between the ages of twelve to fourteen wherein most of the permanent teeth are starting to erupt. Parents should consult the opinion of an orthodontist before proceeding with this type of treatment because it requires patience, discipline and dedication on the part of the child or the individual who will undergo treatment. Life with cosmetic braces will not be a breeze for anyone but will entail several adjustments.

Types of Cosmetic Braces

There are different types of braces available to be used by anyone who desires to get rid of crooked, protruded and overcrowded teeth and cosmetic braces are one of these. Cosmetic braces are types of braces that are ceramic or teeth in color which is preferred by many since they do not appear much on the outside. Since the wires mimic the color of the patient’s teeth, it will not be visible unless a person looks it at more closely. Common types of cosmetic braces include lingual braces, invisalign, and plastic braces.

Lingual Braces

The cost of lingual braces range from $1500 to $2000 which is more than the cost of metal braces. The cost is just enough to cover the expense of carefully placing these braces at the back side your teeth rather than the front side so it will remain invisible. You shouldn’t trust and ordinary doctor or orthodontist to perform this treatment on you because it requires considerable customization and is more labor intensive. As much as possible, guarantee that the orthodontist whom you choose is indeed well trained to perform this type of treatment to achieve a perfect fit and lesser adjustments which will only provide you more inconveniences.

Invisalign

This is also referred to as aligner braces because of the series of aligners that are placed fixed onto your mouth and will only be changed ever after two or three weeks. Each aligner placed carefully fitted to your teeth size which allows the teeth to slowly come to its original place and just like lingual braces these will also remain invisible because materials that are used are soft and transparent.

It is preferred by others because it allows patients to remove it during time of eating, brushing and goggling and simply return it in place after these activities. Nevertheless, discomforts like difficulty in talking and laughing will still be experienced by the patient in the same manner that metal brace users do.

These are braces which are fixed on the back side of the teeth instead of the front side which makes it quite impossible to be seen by others. It produces little inconvenience in the beginning but patients will soon discover the pain of wearing it as the days goes on.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces are the type of braces popularized by Tom Cruise. It is made up of composite materials that blend well with the teeth’s natural color and instead of the traditional tiny rubber bands that easily attracts attention of others, it uses an arch wire that is often white or clear which keeps it invisible.
